There must have been something lucky in the air, or just plain old good CFI’s and student pilots, because on Friday, October 18th, we have 3! Pilots that soloed in 05D, one right after another!

Our annual membership meeting scheduled this year in a couple of weeks on Saturday, Oct. 12th. Like last year its the Saturday of fleet week. There will be grilling, plane washing and maybe some thrice around if there aren’t any fleet week or baseball related TFRs. There will also be voting on next years board and then the usual prophetic diatribes by our new board.
Last years meeting was a great success with fleet week, the blue angels flying overhead etc and we hope to have that many people this year. Despite it being an official meeting, guests are always welcome to attend.
Like most meetings the plane washing will fire up around 10:30 with the grill getting hot around noon. Bring food or drink if you want. We’ll be cooking out but contributions from our members are always appreciated. Not everyone likes overcooked burgers and cheap beer.
Saturday October 12th!!! Be there!

I am very excited to announce that Lucas Ranieri is now accepting job offers as Alameda Aero Club’s newest commercial pilot! Lucas made the trip across a very hot Central Valley and into the California foothills for the opportunity to impress DPE Ken Cobb with his fine stick and rudder skills. Congratulations Lucas!

Timothy Jordan passed the private pilot practical test Tuesday with DPE Rich Batchelder at Concord. I’m told Tim impressed Rich with his command of 4BN; not an easy feat! Congrats Tim, your hard work has paid off.

Congratulations to Richard Cziva. Her wife gave birth to their beautiful daughter last Monday! Apparently there is no better time to do the final preparations for a checkride. After sleeping 3-4 hours a day, he didn’t really pass the S in IMSAFE, but he did pass his private pilot checkride with Ken Cobbs at O22. It was a relatively cool day at Columbia, the temperature barely exceeded 100 degrees and the density altitude was only a bit above 5000ft. Now time to order a headset for the baby.
